Colorations is a simple set collection game about collecting colors and completing sets of colors.

The game was made for Games Now Jam 6. The theme was "Relation".

This game takes the idea of "relation" and applies it to the relationships of colors. Art has researched the relationships of colors for a long time, and there are many names for various combinations that play around with these relationships. This game is only a superficial look into how colors relate to each other, but it should give an idea how to think like an artist when looking at colors.

Terminology:

Primary color: Red, blue and yellow are primaries, colors that cannot be mixed from other colors

Secondary color: Orange, green and purple are secondaries, as they can only be mixed from primaries.

Setup:

Shuffle the primary and secondary color decks and place them on the side. Draw 3 cards from each and place them face up to the middle of the table, next to the decks, forming two rows.

Shuffle also the point card deck and set it to the side. Draw also three cards from the deck and place them in a row face up.

Lastly deal one random primary color card to each player. Now you're ready to start!

The first player is the one who's wearing the most colors. (or chosen randomly)

Gameplay:

The game is played in turns.

Winning condition:

Default game mode: The winner is the one who first gains 10 points.

Alternative longer game mode: The game is played until the point cards run out. The one who has the most points wins.

Alternative quick game mode: The winner is the one who first gets 3 point cards.

Players must make one action per turn:

• Take a primary color card, either from the face up cards or the deck.
• Mix colors: Discard two cards matching a face up secondary color card's requirement and take that secondary color card.
• Complete a color set: Discard 3 color cards that fulfill a point card's requirements and take that point card

Note: A player can only hold up to 3 cards in their hand. If their hand is full, they have to merge cards or complete a set if possible. If not possible, they discard a card before they can take a new card.
